MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN, SUE WHITTY
Dear members, The summer season seems to be a dim and distant memory now that the clocks have gone back and the first frosts have appeared! However, despite an extremely wet summer, there has been some excellent tennis played at BBHTC. Hopefully lots of you have enjoyed the last few months either at club sessions, tournament matches, American Tournaments or just watching the finals. Once again we were lucky with the weather for the finals, with sunshine the whole weekend. Congratulations to all the club champions : Robert Leigh (Men’s singles) Joanne Coombs (Ladies’ singles), Robert with Roger Jowett (Men’s doubles), Joanne with Sarah Coombs (Ladies doubles), Tom Leach (Juniors). Mixed doubles has still to be decided as injuries on both sides prevented the final from being played on the day.
BRITISH TENNIS
You are hopefully all aware by now of the high profile of British Tennis which is a vital part of the future for all clubs. We will be discussing the implications at this year’s AGM, but we need as many of our members to join as possible so if you have not yet signed up, please try to do it before the end of November. Our allocation of Wimbledon tickets is based on the number of members who have joined, so even if you don’t enter the ballot it will help those who do. Forms will be available at the AGM. Alternatively you can use the link on our website.
A.G.M. MONDAY 17 NOVEMBER
This year we are going back to The Red Lyon in Slinfold and we are providing free chilli and wedges for those of you who attend. We will start at 7.30 but we will need to know if you are going to be there and would like to have the food, so please could you phone me on 01403 260568 by Thursday 13 November. There will also be a raffle to win some coaching and obviously we will be discussing many topics which will affect us all, so please do try to come along and support the club and have a nice sociable evening as well (and you won’t have to eat before so there’s an added incentive!). The Agenda and Club Accounts can be viewed on the Club website www.bbhtc.net.
OUR FINAL AMERICAN TOURNAMENT of the year is on Saturday 8 November so it would be great if we could get a really good turn-out. Also, don’t forget Sunday mornings there is the club session at 10am to which everyone is welcome.
I hope to see lots of you at the AGM, in the mean-time KEEP PLAYING!!!
